San Pablo Animal Hospital has been a trusted name in veterinary care since 1989, when Dr. Moody McCall acquired the practice. With nearly 40 years of experience treating animals in the Jacksonville area, Dr. McCall built a reputation for compassionate, high-quality veterinary medicine.
Today, his son, Dr. Chase McCall, continues that legacy as the owner of San Pablo Animal Hospital. Our team is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for pets at every stage of life. We offer a full range of veterinary services, including puppy and kitten vaccinations, preventive care, internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and end-of-life care. Dr. Chase McCall DVMVeterinarian, OwnerDr. Chase McCall followed in his father's footsteps, earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in June 2018. After graduation, he joined the practice and is now the owner of San Pablo Animal Hospital.
Chase is married to fellow veterinarian Dr. Mallory Nebel, and together they share a love for animals with their six dogs: Lilly, a Labrador Retriever; Lucy, Archie, and Maple, Golden Retrievers; Scout, a Doodle; and Arya, a Husky. Outside of veterinary medicine, he enjoys tennis, the beach, hiking, and staying active.

Dr. Desiree Owens DVMVeterinarianDr. Desiree Owens joined the practice in June 2024. She is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, UF Dept. of Animal Sciences, and Sandalwood High School. She and her husband Aaron recently returned to Jacksonville. She enjoys running, reading, and pets, of course.

Dr. Moody McCall DVMVeterinarianDr. Moody McCall is a Jacksonville native He grew up knowing he wanted to be a veterinarian and began working with Dr. Roy Brinkman at Arlington Animal Hospital when he was thirteen. After graduating from University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986, he and his wife, Eugenia, moved to the beach. In 1989 he purchased San Pablo Animal Hospital. In 1997, a new hospital building was built at 13185 Atlantic Blvd.
Photography, tennis, and dog training are his hobbies. He has served on the Board of Directors for Canine Companions for Independence and has trained eleven service dogs for them. He has a black lab, Oko, and a golden retriever, McCall, named after him by Canine Companions in honor of his contributions. In addition, he has served as president of UF CVM Alumni Council, the Veterinary Admissions Committee, and is a recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award. He is class coordinator for the outstanding UF CVM class of 1986!

Dr. Mallory Nebel DVMVeterinarian, Practice limited to Internal MedicineDr. Mallory Nebel graduated from the University of Florida in 2018 and completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery. She then moved to Jacksonville in 2019 and completed a specialty internship in small animal internal medicine and critical care. She continued training in the internal medicine department at a local specialty hospital and worked there for five years. Dr. Nebel is competent in abdominal ultrasounds and echocardiograms and manages immune-mediated, respiratory, gastrointestinal and cardiac diseases. She is married to Dr Chase McCall and together they have six dogs, most of whom have been rescued due to chronic diseases. In her spare time, she enjoys running, weight lifting, hiking, traveling and playing with her dogs.

Eugenia McCallOffice ManagerEugenia McCall grew up in Cairo, GA, and graduated from LaGrange College in 1981, married Moody McCall, and moved to Gainesville, FL. She worked at UF College of Veterinary Medicine in student affairs, and taught math at Stanton College Prep and Florida State College. She now works part time as Office Manager. Eugenia has 2 cats, Charlie and Mac, and enjoys volunteering with her Golden Retriever, McCall, as part of the Caring Canine Team at Mayo, playing tennis and pickleball, reading, and getting to know the clients and pets at San Pablo Animal Hospital.

Janet KnightVeterinary TechnicianJanet moved to Jacksonville from Maine with her husband, Dan. Janet has spent many years working as a Licensed Veterinary Technician.
She enjoys beachcombing, kayaking, and discovering all the new creatures here in Florida. She has 2 grown sons, a granddaughter, two Boston terrier's named Finn, and Chloe and two cats named Dia and Bobby Sox.

Miriam BrooksReceptionistMiriam Brooks heads our reception staff. She joined San Pablo Animal Hospital in 2010 and earned a degree in Biomedical Science in 2017. Miriam has many years of experience as a veterinary receptionist in Orlando and Jacksonville. We are delighted to have her at our front desk. She has 3 longhaired Chihuahuas: Tootsie, Joey & Seamus.

Margie CrosbyReceptionistMargie joined San Pablo Animal Hospital in 2018. She came to us with over ten years experience as a veterinary receptionist. She has two cats and a beloved doggie named Ginger. Born in Kentucky with family in the horse business, Margie has a love for horses and riding, and she sings too!

Tayler ParrackReceptionistTayler is one of the friendly faces that greets you when you walk through the door. She joined our team in 2023 and quickly became a favorite among both clients and coworkers. Tayler is known for her warm personality, attention to detail, and ability to keep everything running smoothly at the front desk. She enjoys helping clients and is especially great with the computer systems that keep the practice organized.
Outside of work, Tayler stays busy with her five dogs: Mac a chocolate lab mix, Eddy a terrier mix, Gaylin a German shepherd, Cooper a Boxer mix and Molly a Yellow lab mix. They Definitely keep her on her toes and reflect her love for animals.

She obtained her grooming certificate shortly after graduating from high school and attended Animal Behavior College to obtain certification as a Veterinary Assistant. Sophia has a great way with animals and loves making them look gorgeous. She says, working with animals is the best job in the world.
